Junior Class - now open
The junior class opened in September 2015 and runs from 1.30pm to 3.30pm on Saturdays These classes are suitable for young people aged 11-14.
As well as being fast paced and fun, classes will focus on supporting students in building the base skills necessary for performance and to prepare them for transition to the senior group. Junior Classes will focus on the core abilities that all performers need - creativity, spontaneity, teamwork and stagecraft.
This class is specifically aimed at those children who are motivated to learn, have an identified existing flair and passion for performance and who may wish to study theatre or performance at GCSE or A-level. A professional attitude will be encouraged from an early stage, and young students are expected to arrive on time, be focused in class, respectful of their peers and ready to work.
Classes will focus on uncovering drama skills through fun, looking at improvisation, creativity, character work, team building and introduction to text work. There will also be a chance for the young people to write, devise, develop and create their own performances and opportunities to perform with more experienced students from the senior group. Where possible class themes will be tied into the National Curriculum to give Imagine Theatre students a headstart and additional insight above and beyond compulsory education.
